The recommended ideal indoor humidity for human health and comfort is in the range of 40% – 60% RH. The survival and breeding rate of bacteria, viruses or dust mites for example, will escalate as soon as humidity levels drop below 40% or rise above 60%. These levels of humidity are not at all uncommon in the UK during the colder wetter winter months and the visible signs do not necessarily present themselves immediately.
Normally, the indoor relative humidity falls to below 40% during the colder months of October through to May due to indoor heating system.
